About Will.

 

Will Davenport (he/him) is a London-based composer/producer originally from Stoke-On-Trent. He primarily composes for media and also produces electro-acoustic music under the moniker STRANGE SIGNAL Will has most recently been part of the PRS New Streams development scheme in collaboration with PUSHER Music, where he composed and recorded his piece SCUTTLE with Riot Ensemble. He also received mentoring from Chris Roe throughout the development process. He has also worked as a music assistant to Hannah Peel for the soundtrack to the Paramount series INSOMNIA. and recently produced a library music album of Shimmering Strings for No Sheet Music. 

While studying Electronic Music and Composition at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Will was described as "one of the most inventive young compositional voices” (Barbara De Biasi) and composed music for various noteworthy clients, such as The Barbican (Barbican Film Festival, Sound Unbound, Singing Our Lives), The National Trust (Waddesdon Manor’s Imaginarium 2017 & Winter Fair 2018). In 2018, Will worked with The Illuminated River Foundation to write two pieces commemorating the new lighting installations across London’s Thames Bridges, designed by Leo Villareal. In the same year, Will also composed music for an augmented-reality art piece, as commissioned by Brookfield Properties. His piece Shimmer was a collaboration with LSO Violist Anna Bastow and was available to experience via an app entitled hARmony. Will also had one of his pieces premiered at The Royal Albert Hall, as part of the BBC Doctor Who Prom 2013 - where he worked with Ben Foster and Sam Thompson.

Additionally to his composition work, Will also works part-time at the Ivors Academy as their Membership Councils and Office Coordinator, and also offers private piano tuition with Fireworks Music School.
