About Will.

Will Davenport is a London-based composer originally from Stoke-On-Trent. His work bridges contemporary-classical, electronic and music for media. Will’s music is colourful and immersive, exploring new textures and sound worlds. He produces immersive electronic beat-driven music through the moniker strange signal, and composes music for film under his own name.

Will most recently collaborated with Isabel Gracefield at RAK studios, providing additional piano and strings arrangements for LEA G’s upcoming 2025 EP. He was also selected for the PRS New Streams development scheme (in partnership with PUSHER Music) where he composed and recorded trailer music with the renowned Riot Ensemble. As part of this development scheme, Will received mentoring from the Ivor Novello nominated Chris Roe.

In 2024, Will was music assistant to the IVOR award-winning composer Hannah Peel, on the haunting and cinematic soundtrack for the Paramount+ series INSOMNIA. In the same year he also composed Shimmering Strings, a lush, cinematic library album released for No Sheet Music, with Viola parts performed by LSO Violist Annie-May Page.

As a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama’s prestigious Electronic Music course, his work has featured in projects for The Barbican Film Festival and The National Trust. During his time at Guildhall, he composed two site-specific works for award-winning artist Leo Villareal for his new lighting of London’s Thames bridges. In 2021, Will collaborated with LSO Violist Anna Bastow on an interactive piece for Augmented Reality, SHIMMER. The project features its own app, called hARmony.

In addition to his composition work, Will plays an active role in the industry in advocating for Songwriters and Composers’ rights, as Membership Councils and Office Coordinator at The Ivors Academy. He founded the Academy’s LGBTQI+ Working Group.
